Research Teams
Introduction
The Education team is part of ippr's programme on public services. The team works on education policy issues throughout the life course in order to promote social justice. We use a combination of quantitative and qualitative research, policy and literature review, and stakeholder debate and consultation to analyse current policies. We consider which new models of learning and ways of working could deliver more socially just outcomes.
The team is currently working on two main projects:
-
Effective Teachers and Teaching, which will consider some of the key emerging challenges for schools, teachers and school leaders.
-
Universities Challenged: Higher Education's Future which develop an understanding of the impact of recent reforms to higher education and set out a challenging but credible future higher education policy agenda.
The team has a strong track record of innovation and influence in education and training policy:
-
Our proposals for school admissions outlined in Schooling in London continue to be brought forward at a local level.
-
Education Maintenance Allowances (EMAs), as outlined in Opportunity for Whom?, are being implemented nationally for 16- to 19-year-olds and piloted for adults in Further Education.
The Education team's recent publications include:
