James Morris and Michael Jacobs discuss strategies for engaging the public on climate change
'Opening up Political Space: How can the underlying politics be shifted to open up political space for ambitious climate action?' explored a number of questions: How can the large constituencies of campaigners in the developed and developing world work together and separately to open up political space? How can they overcome the resistance to climate change policy that lies beyond the core, environment and development constituencies? What actually does help create space for politicians to act? And how can the progressive voices of business be heard?
Speaking at this event were; Mohamed Adow, climate change specialist at Christian Aid; Michael Jacobs, former Number 10 Special Advisor on Climate Change; and James Morris, former Speechwriter to Ed Miliband MP and Research Director at Brand Democracy. The event was chaired by Andrew Pendleton, Senior Research Fellow at ippr
